Mumma Sweeps in Franklin!
The Lucas Oil Champions Tour rolled into Franklin, KY this past weekend for a two night stay at the Jim Roberts park for the TS Performance outlaw truck and tractor pull. The event was not a pre commit only event and several pullers who don’t normally pull with the PPL were on hand to add to the competition. Friday Night was action packed and Team Midnight got started on what would be a pretty awesome weekend of pulling.
Reigning champion Bethany Nelson came into night number one fresh off of a win the previous weekend in Saluda, SC. Bethany took her Warrior Tracks sponsored sweet revenge out to a distance of 299.85 which would be good for the number 15 position.
Jeremy Nelson, was looking to have a better weekend after a less than stellar opener in Saluda.
Jeremy Wheeled the familiar blue and yellow Speedco Midnight Gambler to a 3rd place finish with a distance of 309.53.
Brother Jared nelson had a consistent weekend in Saluda and was hoping to build momentum and gain valuable Lucas Oil points and he did just that on this night as he bested his brother Jeremy and piloted the Boyd and Sons Midnight Revenger to the #2 position on the evening with a distance of 310.15
That would leave only one and he did not disappoint. John Mumma was not happy with his performance in Saluda, and he spent the time in between working to better his placing at this event. When the dust had settled on night number one, The Philo, IL based driver was standing at the top of the pile. His distance of 314.83 secured the victory during the first night of action.
The second night saw a rain delay, and track conditions that were bumpy and treacherous, but John Mumma again showed why he is a two time past champion when he rocketed to a distance of 328.12 which would be good for his second victory in as many nights. “Wow, What a weekend!”, “I could not be happier” added John when asked about his opinion on his performance.
Jeremy Nelson, fresh of a 3rd place finish the night before, bested the previous nights position by 1 with a second place finish. Jeremy pulled the Speedco Midnight Gambler to a distance of 321.99 which secured number 2, just one spot back of father in law John. “It felt good to rebound with two straight podium finishes after the disappointing weekend at Saluda. Only team trucks finished ahead of me both nights and that says a lot for how the team is doing right now”, mentioned the Speedco Midnight Gambler pilot.
Bethany Nelson again showed why she is the reigning Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Champion with another solid top 10 finish. She bettered herself over the previous night as she drove the “Sweet Revenge” Chevy to a distance of 313.22 which put her in the #7 position on the evening.
Jared Nelson rounded out the weekend with a distance of 305.09 which would be good for number #15 Saturday night.
Team Midnight is back in action on Saturday night June 6, 2015 in their home state of Illinois at the Urbana county fairgrounds for the Hammer Down truck and tractor pull on the Lucas oil Midwest Region circuit. If you are in the area, please come and cheer on the team.
Thanks for your continued support and interest in Midnight Pulling.
